Reiki Healing

Reiki is the Japanese practice of energy balance and healing. Rei meaning “divine energy or light” and ki meaning “life force”. Reiki is divine, light, healing energy that is channeled through a Reiki practitioner. One does not have to be a spiritual person to experience the healing powers of Reiki, only open and receptive to Reiki energy!

Reiki healing brings the energetic body back to its unique balanced state. Reiki can be a gentle tool to aid in healing trauma on the physical, mental, emotional and auric bodies. When one receives Reiki healing the practitioner can either treat a physical trauma locally or treat the entire energetic body, depending on the need(s) of the client.

Reiki is channeled and transmitted through the practitioners hands. The practitioner is attuned to Reiki through a Reiki Master and then can tune into the Reiki energy at any time. Reiki students begin by treating themselves for 21 days, then move into being able to treat others, becoming Reiki healers and practitioners.

I completed my Reiki attunements in Rishikesh, India and did the Reiki mediations on the banks of the Ganges River. The Ganga is considered a very high vibratory holy river in India. The meditations there are said to be deeply powerful, because of the blessings of the saints and masters that have meditated there for ages. The feeling of being by the Ganga is incredible, the frequency and vibrations are potent, and my Reiki meditations were deep and transformative. I could actually see the different colors of the Chakras as I was moving my hands up and down my Sushumnal Nadi (central energetic channel).

Shortly after I left India, I began offering Reiki treatments, either at the end of a Marma Point Bodywork session or an individual Reiki healing session. Reiki follows the Marma Point Bodywork quite well. After the Prana (energy) is released through the Marma Points, the energetic body is activated, flowing freely and the client is in a blissful state. The Reiki takes that effect further, bringing the energetic body into deep balance, with long lasting feelings of peace and relaxation. Reiki also balances the emotional body, aiding in release of any negative, stuck or traumatic feelings.

Reiki can be used to treat physical trauma as well. Reiki practitioners all over the world work in hospitals to provide holistic treatment helping to alleviate chemo and radiation symptoms, pre or post surgical procedures, anxiety, digestion, depression, heart problems, and many other types of ailments. The healing energy provides the recipient with deep feelings of balance, peace, comfort and a positive outlook.

Since I have been practicing Reiki I have treated a number of conditions, from a motorcycle accident to the emotional pain of losing a loved one. Each time I preform a healing, the Reiki energy that I am transmitting has provided a sense of peace, release from physical, mental or emotional pain, and feelings of comfort and contentment.

Reiki healing is one of my favorite tools to use because when I channel the Reiki, I also receive benefits of Reiki energy. I still use Reiki when I need it to help me sleep, to raise my vibration, to calm and sooth any digestive issues, to balance my energy, and to bring my emotional and mental body into a peaceful state.

AYURVEDIC MARMA POINT BODYWORK

Ayurvedic Marma Point Bodywork

WHAT IS A MARMA POINT AND WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF AYURVEDA?

A Marma point is any point on the body where two or more of the following meet and attach to bone; veins, arteries, tendons, ligaments and/or muscles. Ayurveda is the ancient Indian science of medicine, over 5,000 years old, which prescribes precise yoga, diet, and lifestyle practices in agreement with individual constitution.

According to Ayurveda, our bodies have energy meridians and the Marma points on these meridians can become blocked over time. Marma point therapy is a release of vital life force energy resulting in free flowing energy throughout the body and an overall relaxed state!

Marma point bodywork is used to treat a multitude of symptoms including muscular tension, nervous system imbalances, thyroid problems, anxiety, insomnia, urinary disfunction, menstrual pain, joint pain, asthma, bronchitis, headaches, digestion, constipation, heart problems, lower back pain, shoulder pain, energy center (Chakra) blockages and more.

HOW IT WORKS

Marma point therapy follows the Ayurvedic Energetic Meridians. The human body has energy meridians that run from the crown of the head down through the face, neck, spine, shoulders, arms, hands, abdomen, back, pelvis, hips, legs and feet. If points on these meridians are blocked, the use of Marma point therapy is extremely healing. Each and every one of us will experience a blockage at some point in our lives, creating discomfort and, if not treated, can lead to disfunction and dis-ease. Marma point therapy helps alleviate blockages and increase vitality.

Marma point treatment can reduce symptoms related to the internal organs as well. For example; there are points on the arms, back, legs and feet that are related to internal organs such as the spleen, kidneys, liver, bladder, heart and lungs. Manipulation of these points can help release blockages in the entire system and reduce symptoms of pain internally as well as alleviate tension in the muscular and energetic body.

THE TREATMENT

Each client has a specific need and blockage so the treatment begins with an individual consultation. After the consultation, I begin by activating the back of the body. The client lies face down while I knead each Marma point, starting at the foot and working up the legs and back. After I complete each part of the body, I follow subtle energy lines to ensure that the energy released is flowing freely. I then rub out tension in the muscular body. The second half of the bodywork is done with the client lying on the back, and I activate the front of feet, legs, abdomen, and arms followed by rubbing out tension in the muscular body. Lastly, the facial, head and neck points followed by a soothing head, neck and shoulder treatment!

I am also a Reiki healing practitioner and I have found that Marma point therapy and Reiki healing go hand in hand. The client is relaxed and receptive to deep Reiki healing after the Marma treatment. Please see my post on Reiki for more information on energy work and healing.

I have been practicing Marma Point Bodywork since 2016. I studied at Brahaman School of Yoga and Ayurveda in Rishikesh, India.
